In the summer of 2015, I became the president of the MAE Undergraduate Student Council and AIAA/ASME officer president for my class. As president of AIAA and ASME, I was the point of contact for organizations that wanted to reach out to my classmates. I worked closely with the Undergraduate Administrator to try to get more aerospace representation and career fairs and others aspects as well. Additionally, I am chosen to represent Princeton at events where we meet outside parties.
When the Princeton MAE Advisory Council came to our campus for the purpose of advising the department on academic, operational, and extracurricular issues, I was asked to be one of the representatives of the undergraduate classes. The Advisory Council typically consists of faculty from other institutions, expert and key people in the engineering field, and alumni/ae of the University. The council is an effective mechanism for gathering opinions of graduate and undergraduate students, junior and senior faculty members, and professional staff personnel, and for conveying their opinions and concerns to the department. By being present, I was personally able to do my part in speaking up for my opinions on laboratory spaces, hands-on club funding and activities for my fellow classmates.
